Studying Diabetes through the Diabetes EduCenter

Diabetes is a disease in which the amount of insulin in the body decreases or becomes insensitive to convert sugar into energy, so the sugar levels in the body becomes high. With the presence of hyperglycemia (high glucose levels in the blood) then this can cause various complications both in the short or long term that can interfere with quality of life for diabetics. Complications that may arise in the long run are: the failure of kidney function, damage to the retina of the eye, neurological disease that usually attacks in the legs and cardiovascular disease that affects the heart and blood vessels.

Global campaigns on important diabetes care are to improve public awareness of diabetes, including ways to prevent it. For Indonesia itself education on all lines and levels of society about diabetes is important to do, considering the number of diabetics growing from year to year and also to prevent the prediabetes to refrain from becoming diabetic.

This educational program is the responsibility of all those involved from the public, patients, physicians, hospitals, drug manufacturers and the government. Provision of information from fellow diabetic patients is also expected to help each patient to better understand the disease, it is because sometimes patients still feel free to ask more when you want to physicians.
